So You Have A Pudding Child?
By Perry A~

Seeing children as desserts helps to identify their special skills and how to develop them effectively. The following analogy is from People Are Just Desserts, a non-threatening approach to accepting the abilities and traits in our children and others.

Pudding children are free flowing, creative, emotional and beautifully spontaneous. Being creative, they hop from one idea to another, many times without completion. They easily see the big picture. Details and repetition becomes boring and limits their creative problem solving skills. These creative people learn best by hands on experience. Reading detailed instructions is a turn-off. They usually make decisions based on emotions rather than logic. They are compassionate and sensitive.

Interaction with others is a natural ability. They are great in dealing with the public and love the spontaneity of handling unknown situations. Customer service, sales, nursing, teaching and the arts honor their abilities.

Encourage them to think for themselves and to honor their thoughts. Don’t compare them with others. Clearly define boundaries of what is acceptable. Given the freedom to choose they will make wise decisions. Self motivated, they must enjoy what they do or they will soon burnout.

Criticism is often taken as rejection. Encourage them with praise and suggestions for improvement. Strong people pleasers, they are open to improving and giving you what you want. Communicate clearly how to achieve the results and then allow them the freedom to create.

Others see them as carefree, irresponsible, and indecisive. They see themselves as creative, fun, energetic and enthusiastic. Coupled with cake and pie people they are an awesome team. Enjoy the Sweet Rewards of your Pudding Child.
