Helping Your Children To
Sweet Success
By Perry A~
If you want to help your children succeed, says Perry A~, encourage them
to develop the natural talents that come so easily to them. Integrate them
based this natural ability coupled with what brings them joy. Seeing them
as desserts helps to identify their special skills and how to develop them
effectively. Let’s take a look at one dessert type.
The Cake Child
Cake children are the driven, high achievers striving for competitive
excellence. They are structured and like to do things in a specific
manner.
Knowledge and becoming an expert in one area are driving forces. Focused,
they see the end in mind and stay easily on task. They like completion and
results. Decisions are mostly based on facts not emotions.
Self-disciplined, they easily dedicate themselves to another’s cause.
Work is work and play is play, but with a deadline insight the two don’t
mix. They are strong leaders because of their ability to stay on task and
get results. They will influence others around them to do the same.
Others see them as bossy, critical and overbearing. Patience is not a
virtue. They see themselves as successful leaders.
To best deal with children of this nature, help them identify their own
goals and provide them with space of their own. Encourage them to balance
work, family and play and to develop respect of self and others.
People Are Just Desserts is a fun, non-threatening way to recognize and
accept the abilities in our children and others. Based on individual
ingredients we can only be what we are. Trying to change people from their
natural flow creates flopped puddings and half baked goods. Before
criticizing, identify the natural goodness.
